The village of Benahavis stands 500 meters above sea levels and is situated about 7km inland from the A7 (N340) the famed coast road on the Costa del Sol. Set just inland from San Pedro Alcantara the village is still within a short drive of the coasts most popular locations such as Marbella and Puerto Banus, however the village has a far more traditional appeal than the glitz of the coast.
Famous for its scenery and restaurants and commonly known as the “gastronomic corner of Andalucía”, the heart of the village has a traditional white washed Andalucian feel, however the outskirts of the village benefit from a wide selection of modern luxury homes. The population comprises of a mix of nationalities and is favoured by expats who work on the coast but like to retreat to the suburbs for the evenings / weekends.
The municipality of Benahavis stretches across the foothills of the mountain range and is shaped by three rivers, each forming its own valley. Offering a diverse landscape and some truly admirable places to visit, the area an extremely popular tourist destination. Stretching from the coast road to the inland village, Benahavis covers a large footprint which is particularly popular with golfers, Los Arqueros, Guadalmina Golf course, Atalaya Golf & Country Club La Quinta and Marbella club golf resort all fall within the Benahavis municipality. In addition to the renowned golf resorts the area is also home to some of the coasts most prestigious and renowned residences; La Heredia the popular modern Andalucían village and further elevated you will find La Zagaleta and El Madonal – home to some of the most refined real estate in Southern Spain.
