Monda is a small inland village with a population of less than two thousand residents located just beyond Ojén along the C-337 road, resting in a mountain valley at a height of 1200 feet above sea level.
The developments to the access road linking Monda to Marbella have made the village easily accessible and more recently lead to rapidly developing suburbs.
The dominant feature approaching the village is the castle which stands above it. Architecturally the castle, actually a hotel, is decorated in Moorish style and offers superb accommodation and cuisine.
Steeped in history, Monda was originally occupied by an Ibero-Roman fortified enclosure established in the 3rd-1st Centuries BC. Modern day Monda is now a sleepy Andalucian village surrounded by peaceful valleys.
The village itself is accessed by two main entrance roads from the highway, once inside the village the traditional cobbled streets lined with Tapas bars provide a truly Andalucian village appeal.
Real estate in the region is comprised predominantly of traditional village properties and larger fincas, villas and country estates. Pricing is certainly more competitive than in coastal regions, however the fast access roads and demand for larger inland properties have impacted on pricing levels over the past decade.
