San Pedro de Alcántara and Guadalmina are set in an ideal location, just minutes west of Puerto Banus and 10 kilometres from the glitz and glamour of Marbella. This popular area is based just a few minutes' drive away from the natural beauty of the Sierra de Ronda mountain range and 20 km from the town of Estepona. Nueva Alcántara is the beach side area by San Pedro, this thriving area houses shops, restaurants, hotels and upmarket apartments, townhouses and villas. The long, golden beaches enjoy a Blue Flag status for their cleanliness and the area benefits from an impressive five kilometre stretch of beach! The wide promenade or paseo maritimo is lined with magnificent palms trees and offers a wide range of restaurants and beach bars – whose specialities include fresh local fish. The promenade has recently been extended and now connects directly to Puerto Banus.
The town centre has a traditional Andalucían charm, with narrow streets leading up to the central plaza packed with shops cafes and bars. The parish church at the centre of the plaza is surrounded by orange blossoms and offers a cool area to relax during the summer months. The new San Pedro underpass is now open providing a far quicker route between Estepona and Marbella and plans include a new commercial zone and park area set above the underpass. Guadalmina is serviced by an established golf course and offers some of the more prestigious properties in the area in terms of beachside and golf front villas and urbanisations. San Pedro de Alcántara has undergone one of the largest transformations of coastal towns in recent years – however the area still retains its traditional appeal and is popular with tourists and residents alike.
