Formerly part of Malaga, Torremolinos is the first coastal resort situated West of Malaga, located just 7 kilometres from Malaga international airport. Developed back in the early 1960´s when it was no more than a fishing village, the town still retains several of the historic fish restaurants and bars.
Noted for its clean sandy beaches Torremolinos has evolved over the years and during peak seasons is one of the more lively towns on the coast, with nightlife that appeals to the younger generation. However, off season the town reverts back to a more traditional Spanish ambience.
As one of the more populated conurbations, Torremolinos has historically had a reputation of being densely populated, however, more recently there has been an emergence of numerous public garden zones with over 1,000 different species of trees being planted.
A major advantage of being more densely populated is the shopping facilities, the main “high street” Calle San Miguel is a pedestrianised street lined with numerous popular boutiques and shopping facilities.
Those looking for an active holiday will particularly enjoy the beaches which offer a wide array of activities including windsurfing, paragliding, waterskiing and pedal boats. The area is also suitable for golfers with Alhaurin and Parador being the most popular courses.
The distance from the airport and lively nature of the town have maintained the areas popularity with tourists and more economic property prices combined with strong rental demand makes the area also desirable for buy to let investors.
